Ingroup favoritism is one of the important concern of social psychology, refers to theindividual preference for own group and the group members. However, recent studiesindicate that individuals are not partial to all members of the group, in some cases derogatethe group members who will have negative effects on ingroups (the black sheep effect). But over derogatory is based on maintaining the group’s image purpose, so the black sheepeffect is a reversal of ingroup favoritism, it is still a special form of ingroup favoritism. Bycombing foreign with domestic literature found that the previous studies in the context ofinter-group comparisons explored the phenomenon of the ingroup favoritism and blacksheep effect, so this study explores the phenomenon of the ingroup favoritism and blacksheep effect in the ingroup context.Study1explored the influence of the extent of group identification to the ingroupfavoritism by single factor design. The results showed that,(1)the ingroup favoritism andblack sheep effect still existed in the ingroup comparison scenario;(2)the degree of groupidentification had a significant effect, namely high group identity assessed ingrouppositively (ingroup favoritism phenomenon), and the group of individual member negativ-ely (the black sheep effect); and age, grade were not significantly related to ingroupfavoritism, gender was significantly related to the assessment of individual member.Study2explored the influence of the extent of group identification andself-uncertainty to the ingroup favoritism by2×2between-subjects design. To assess theresults of the ingroup found that,(1)the degree of group identification had not a significanteffect,(2)self-uncertainty had not a significant effect,(3)the degree of group identificationand self-uncertainty interaction was not significant, but further analysis found that, although different control conditions, subjects still tend to assess the ingroup positively tomaintain a good ingroup image. To assess the results of the individual members of theingroup found,(1)the degree of group identification had a significant effect, namely highgroup identification subjects assess individual ingroup member more negatively,(2) self-uncertainty had a significant effect, namely self-uncertainty subjects assess individualingroup member more negatively,(3)the degree of group identification and self-uncertaintyinteraction was significant, in low group identity condition, the self-uncertainty subjectscompared to the self-certainty subjects, have negative assessment of individual ingroupmember. However, in real social life, people’s identity is dynamic and complex. To this end,Study3explored the influence of the type of group identification and self-uncertainty tothe ingroup favoritism by2×2between-subjects design. To assess the results of theingroup found that,(1)the type of group identification had a significant effect, namely thesubjects of unit identity compared to the subjects of multiple identities assess the ingrouppositively,(2)self-uncertainty had not a significant effect,(3)the degree of group identifica-tion and self-uncertainty interaction was not significant; To assess the results of theindividual member of the ingroup found that,(1)the type of group identification had not asignificant effect,(2)self-uncertainty had a significant effect, namely self-certainty subjectsassessed individual ingroup member more negatively,(3)the degree of group identificationand self-uncertainty interaction was significant; under conditions of unit identity, theself-certainty subjects compared to the self-uncertainty subjects, had more negativeassessment of individual ingroup member.
