According to social classification population can be divided into in-group and out-group.When one identifies their own group,it will generate in-group favoritism.Whereas when one has a low sense of identity for their group,it will generate out-group favoritism.Stereotype and social classification have a very close relationship.According to social classification people have different stereotypes about different groups.Meanwhile, gender is an important standard of social classification. Therefore,in different gender groups, stereotypes may have different effects on group favoritism This paper from a gender perspective explore phenomena of group preference and the influences of stereotypes on group preference.186 undergraduates(93females)were selected randomly from three universities in Northeast China. This study explored the features of male and female group favoritism. It also from explicit and implicit level Consider and explore the relationship between the two Using Semantic differentiation scale to measure male and female out-group favoritism.Male and female in-group favoritism is measured by the SC-IAT.This paper from a gender perspective explored the influence of different gender stereotypes on group preferences. On the explicit and implicit level we used a2(male stereotype vs.female stereotype)X2(consistent vs.inconsistent)X2(male college student group vs.female college student group)mixture design and the SC-IAT to measure the effects of stereotypes on group favoritism respectively. On the implicit level, using the SC-IAT to measure the impact of stereotypes on group preferences.(1)On explicit level, there was no significant difference between in-group favoritism of boys and out-group favoritism;in-Group favoritism of girls was significantly higher out-group favoritism.(2)On implicit level,in-group favoritism of boys was higher than out-group favoritism. And out-group favoritism of girls was significantly higher than in-group favoritism.(3)Male stereotype impression words easier to activate male students;female college student stereotype impression words easier to activate a group of female college students.(4)On the explicit level,in circumstances consistent with the stereotype, therewas no significant difference between in-group and out-group favoritism of boys,however,in-group favoritism of female students was significantly higher than out-group favoritism In the case of inconsistencies with stereotypes,in-group preference of male students was significantly higher than out-group preference. And there was no significant difference for girls between in-Group preference and out-group preference.(5)On the implicit level in-group preference of male and female students was consistent with Stereotype group preference.
