Study Of The Education Officer Grope In The Jiangnan Region During The Yuan Dynasty

With understanding deeply Chinese culture and in order to consolidate power win over the hearts of the southern confucian scholars, the Mongol rulers renewed the educational officer system in the Jinagnan Region with refemce to the on in the north China after they destroyed the Southern Song Dynsty. However, there were diversity and particularity in source, select, promotion and offical’s salary in the Jiangnan Region because of the defferences of the educational officer system between the north and south. The educational officer system was formed by the influence of special social background, related to the educational policy of the Yuan goernment and survial needs and cultural mission of the confucial scholars in the Jiangnan Region,as well other factors. The fomation of the educational officer system in the Jiangnan Region had significant impact on the local educaional development, and improved the recovery of school education, at the same time, it also promoted the develpoment of zaju and yuanqu. Being the lower class, the educaional officers’ survial comdition and spiritual pursute feflected living circumtances of the confucial scholars and changed of social system in the Yuan Dynasty. Based on mentioned above, this thesis reveals the characteristics of the educational officer system in the Jiangnan Region and its influence on the society at the time.
