The Jung was an ethnic group active in Pre-Qin period, which had significant effect on this period history. While academics have not yet pay enough attention on Jung history for now. On the basis of review and summary of home and abroad study achievements, detailed analyzing of masterpieces, archaeological data and ancient writing materials, comprehensively and systematically, this article is first to study the materials of Jung in Pre-Qin.This paper is divided into seven chapters which includes three aspects:the first, make a comprehensively detailed analyzing and evaluating of debates and achievements of distribution, appellation and ethnicity by scholars at home and abroad. Second, systematically investigate Oracle Bone Inscriptions, Bronze Script and information from historical classics. Third, preliminary survey about several important issues on Jung’s history and culture.The debates of Jung’s distribution, appellation and ethnicity by scholars at home and abroad as the starting of this paper. By comprehensively summarizing and reviewing of Jung history for hundreds of years, analyzing debates about41branches of Jung detail by detail found that disputes and differences in this field are significantly greater than consensus, it also fully shows that the study of Jung history in Pre-Qin must facing its complexity and overwhelming difficulties head on.Systematic investigation of Jung’s history data what record in ancient books, Oracle Bone Inscriptions and Oracle Bronze Script as the main part of this paper. Step by Step, by discussing Jung’s historic activities record in inscriptions on bones or tortoise and bronze inscriptions, and systematic studying about relevant issues, confirm that Jung exist before Shang dynasty, scattered in different regions not only in western place. People of Jung used bronze and mastered certain bronze forging manufacturing technique, the relationship between Jung and Shang Chou Dynasty, notably with Chou, is sometime militant or peaceful, a dynamics process of one rise and another fall in shift.The primary of discussing and study of several issues about Jung in history and culture is received as topic study by above discussing, confirm that there are two history processes of Jung, enlargement and downsizing.
