Thoughts On Death Penalty

After Beccaria called for the abolition of the death penalty, debates on the death penalty has become one of the inevitable problems to political philosophers and jurists. In this debate, there are three main paths lead to the argument of remain death penalty, there are deservedness, consequentialism, and compensation, these three theories is actually corresponding to the three purpose of punishment theory. Demonstrate ways to abolish the death penalty is much more, such as utilitarianism, Social criminology, humanitarian, etc.In this paper, a quite detailed introduction to the history of the death penalty has been controversial, and trying to prove a way of starting from the consequentialism to clarify that ’the abolition of the death penalty is useful, it helps to eliminate bad exemplary government made, to clean mind, and to build a loving and harmonious world.But in view of the current situation in our country, the abolition of the death penalty should be gradual and start with strict restrictions began to apply the death penalty, and then to essentially abolish the death penalty, finally lead to completely abolish the death penalty.
