Tunisia is located in the most northern end of the continent, facing north and east of the Mediterranean, blocking the Strait of Tunisia and the sea in Sicily, Italy. Tunisia is not only an important ancient civilization of the Mediterranean coast of North Africa, but also it has a very important position in the Mediterranean economy and trade. During the French colonial period and after the independent in1956, and the modernization period, Tunisia had a close relationship with European countries, that is why the Tunisian economy gradually grew rapidly and Tunisia’s position in the world is getting higher and higher. The Tunisian economy was facing many difficulties during President Bourguiba and Ben Ali eras but it experienced a lot of progress and achieved a lot through the cooperation with Europe. During the second half of the20th century, Tunisia was "westernized" and "modernized". However, the2011Revolution affected all the areas, not only has threatened the stability of the economic development, but also has affected the relations with the EU countries.This research mainly analyzes the economic relation between Tunisia and the European countries. It emphasizes the importance of international cooperation with European countries over more than100years, through Tunisia’s different political systems (the French colonial period, the first term of President Bourguiba, Ben Ali’s second presidential term, and the revolution in2011). The core of this research is: Cooperation with European countries is the driving force to promote the reform of Tunisia, so we emphasize that the international cooperation can promote the economic reform of any country. So, you can see by analyzing the characteristics of each stage the bilateral developed economic relations between Tunisia and European countries. The successful implementation of a comprehensive reform and development strategy will strengthen the bilateral stability and development.
