After Czechoslovakia people’s regime, even though the economy has madegreat development, but also there are many problems in need of reform. Therefore, reform led by Dubcek to distribute a field known as the “Prague spring”comprehensive reform. Although the reform effect is obvious, but the result isunexpected, it causes the Soviet Union of great dissatisfaction. The Soviet Unionthinks that the reform is against its behavior, and beyond the scope of socialistdemocracy. Finally, the Soviet Union not only to accuse, also with the militarysuppression. With the Soviet on the reform of Czechoslovakia highly shut is similar, theUnited States of America has the same evolution of the situation of EasternEuropean countries. Especially the lessons of history of the Hungarian incident, sinceDubcek came to power, the United States expressed great concern on the developmenttrend of Czechoslovakia. In addition, as the two sides between the two level pattern inthe cold war, the Soviet Union in Czechoslovakia’s actions have affected theAmerican intelligence agencies nerve. Therefore, according to declassified documentsshow, American intelligence agencies make the Soviet Union’s operations inCzechoslovakia for a detailed assessment and report, and make the correspondingsummary. Especially before the Soviet invasion of Czech their struggle and the Sovietwill not invasion of Czech, America makes an assessment and prediction in detail. Inaddition, America makes great concern on the situation in Czechoslovakia after theinvasion, and summarizes the investigation and reflection. In general, the United States of Czechoslovakia’s “Prague spring” reformmovement and the Soviet action in Czechoslovakia were related to intelligenceassessment, especially the action in Czechoslovakia is very concerned. From theresults, because at that time the pattern of US-Soviet cold war and the United States toput too much focus on the war in Vietnam, plus the domestic situation is that theUnited States of America is facing a presidential election, President Johnson wantedfor his presidency drawing to a full stop, so the United States to the Soviet invasion ofCzechoslovakia has not made a tough response, this also makes between theevaluation and final treatment has some deviation. Today, although it is evaluated theUnited States intelligence failures, but from the pattern of the cold war the development point of view, this is the hidden trouble, the drastic changes in EasternEurope, the disintegration of the Soviet Union can be said that from the Sovietinvasion of Czechoslovakia appeared.
