The National News Coverage In Xinjiang Daily And National Unity

There are a total of56ethnic groups in China, a unified multi-ethnic country, andnational unity has been playing an important role in social stability and prosperity ofthe country. Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is the largest provincial-leveladministrative region in China, which has13Native peoples and54ethnic minorities,so the public role of the media is indispensable in order to create the atmosphere ofnational unity and popularize the Party’s national policy. Among them, as an integralpart of the cause, the public opinion organs, propaganda organs of the whole Party,Party newspaper is responsible for the advocacy of national policy within the scope ofthe Party’s program, the responsibility and obligation to promote national unity.Led by the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Party committee,"XinjiangDaily" as the most authoritative provincial Party newspaper in Xinjiang region,should must be the vanguard of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Partynewspapers publicity. But in the face with different linguistic, religious and culturalbackground of the masses of different ethnic group, especially after the "seven five"violent crime vandalism burning, how to use limited layout, multi-ethnic areas to behosted by the Party newspaper mandate, to promote national unity, safeguard socialstability target, still require in-depth discussion and study. The author uses five years"Xinjiang Daily national news reports as the research object in order to dig out astrategy of national news coverage which is suitable for Xinjiang to promote nationalunity in Xinjiang region from the media level.Through the quantitative analysis of genres, contents and strategy of nationalnews coverage in Xinjiang Daily, as well as case study on the national news coverageof national unity Education Month, the author use theories of Journalism andCommunication and Anthropology analysis it, give a brief showing of the problemsand deficiencies in national news coverage in Xinjiang Daily.
