Contemporary China has a great opportunity of development while facing manydifficulties. Chinese society since the Opium War has been in a state of transition ofspiritual values. The old spiritual ones have been broken, while new ones have notestablished yet. There is no respect for nature or religion and the spiritual beliefsappear empty.Needless to say, this is a transitional state with social confusion and disorientation.People feel a mental disorder. Whether this period should be as long as possible or asshort as possible is a philosophical proposition. In fact, from the Opium War to thepresent, the time span has been very long. This state of transition has brought out manynegative effects in China. Therefore, this essay studies contemporary Chinese practiceof social development from economic, political, cultural and social dimensions. Itpoints out what values should be pursued, why these valuesshould be pursued and howto pursue these values in contemporary Chinese society. It strives to accurately graspthe direction of China’s social development and move on to the values of guidance andsocial development. Further, it is a systematic and comprehensive analysis of socialdevelopment and the reasons for the pursuit of these values. Finally, it talks about howto return to the right path and how to achieve the pursuit of these values. The characteristic of this study is to analyze the actual development of theChinese society today from the four aspects of economics, politics, culture and society. Both theory and practice are analyzed and discussed. This is a reflection on China’ssocial development and on the interaction of personal development and socialdevelopment. It is a reflection of great significance.
