With rapid development of information technology and industrial civilization, theworld is stepping into a highly communicative society. Communication becomes notonly common people’s existence form, but also that of all the nations and countries.Studying Marx’s communication theories and exploring its ideology help us to deeplyand accurately seize the main vein of contemporary global development, moreover, theprofound realistic theoretical and practical significance it carries guides our country tomore positively and effectively conduct communication activities, to solve prominentcommunication problems in transformation period of society as well as to realizeall-round development of human being.Marx’s communication theories have profound theoretical origin in MoralityCommunication from ancient Greece, Empiricism Communication from Britain,Benthamism Communication from France and Rationalism Communication fromGermany, all of which significantly influence Marx on the establishment of hiscommunication theories. Based on critical inheritance from former philosophers’thoughts, Marx experiences germinative period of communication theories andestablishment phase of practice theories, and elaborates the main content ofcommunication theories in the German Ideology, after that, he enriches and develops itin diverse works.Marx’s communication theories emphasize the important historical role of realisticand individual communication that set on basis of material production practice. Marxdeems communication, integrating activity domain and relationship domain, has themost extensive significance, not only to present as communication activities between individuals but also characterize various social relations between them. It is indicatedthat communication is bound to production. Via labor division, communication andmaterial production premise and interact with each other, but finally, communicationdepends on material production activities. For the first time, Marx differentiatescommunication into material communication and spiritual communication, also clarifiesthat the former determines the latter while the latter is subjectively counteractive to theformer. On a humanity history and society development level, Marx extends furtherstudy on communication, demonstrating that communication is the booster of humanityhistorical evolution from national history to global history, and communism is theultimate form of human society, only in the precondition, both universal development inproductivity and that of global communication, that is universal communication, canwhich come into being. Meanwhile, Marx indicates the history of society is the historyof individual development, connecting realistic individual self-emancipation andself-development to communication, and analyses the identity of communication andindividual development, pointing out realistic individual all-round development relieson existence of universal communication.
