Given its historical background, The Deng Xiaoping’s development is deeply rooted in theexploration on social development in the early modern history of China. According to its timesbasis, Deng Xiaoping’s development is mainly based on correct diagnosis of the era in which itappeared, both the summary of domestic socialism practice and lessons of foreign socialismpractice, no matter it is a success or turned out to be a failure, are included. Given its content, thetheory of ‘the primary stage of socialism’ is the fundamental theoretical basis of Deng Xiaoping’sdevelopment, while “Theory of productive forces” and “Emancipating the mind, seeking truthfrom facts” are considered to be its cornerstone and essence respectively. From the perspective ofmodernization, Deng Xiaoping’s development is an economically oriented theory in the firstplace, meanwhile it emphasizes on the modernization of politics, science and technology. As itstheoretical significance, Deng Xiaoping’s development provides important strategic implicationsto the construction of the socialist country. It also offers intellectual support for the contemporarycollective leadership of CPC to make further innovation, so that ideological guidelines andpolicies that fit the reality can be formulated.
