High speed rotating mirror camera has advantages like large picture size, highspatial resolution, and wide photography frequency band. These advantages, whichmake the high speed rotating mirror camera being able to research on most ultrafastprocesses, benefit these camera to play a very important role in high speedphotography instrument. The high speed rotating mirror camera has developed amature theory, and the current work focuses on how to improve the spatial resolutionand imaging quality of the instruments.In this dissertation èthe work concentrates on improving the imaging quality ofthe high speed rotating mirror camera. It has the following contents:1. Introduces the development of the photography instrument in domestic andoverseas in addition with the development tendency.2. Introduces the types of the high speed rotating mirror camera, analyzes thebasic theory of them, and analyzes the light path and waiting function of thehigh speed rotating mirror camera researched in this dissertation.3. Analyzes the role of the step aperture stop in the whole light path,introduces several basic types of the step aperture stop, and chooses a suitedstop; discusses the influence of the step aperture stop on the imaging qualityof the system; selects a parallel plate to improve the original stop, comparesthe efficiency of light energy utilization of improved one with the originalone, and calculates the parameters of the needed parallel plate.4. Calculates the detailed parameters of the rotating mirror, and chooses suitedsection shape and material of the mirror according to the requirements ofthe instrument.5. The original of the theoretical system defocusing is introduced in this part.Analyses the system principle resulted defocusing as well as its effects onthe imaging quality. The coordinate of the pivot of the mirror is fixed. Thetranscendental curve introduced defocusing is analyzed. The effects of the inconformity of the optical axis on the film side defocusing are calculatedand a solution is proposed.6. The experimental system is built and the results are discussed.
