Jimsar depression in the Jimsar basin which is located in the southeast of Zhungeer basin belongs to lithologic stratigraphic oil and gas reservoirs. The jimsar depression has many advantages of depositing oil and gas such as having limnic source rocks and reservoir rocks. The limnic source rocks have high abundance of organic matter and develops many sets of continental reservoir stratum.According to that, the jimsar depression has a great value in oil and gas exploration. However, studies on this area mainly concentrated in the analysis of regional tectonic evolution level.Using remote sensing technology about the hydrocarbon micro seepage to explore the associated alteration mineral is extremely scarce. Therefore, based on a series of theoretical basis of hydrocarbon micro percolation.Tried to use traditional multispectral methods and airborne hyperspectral methods to explore the oil and gas resources.Furthermore.Analysed the results of these two methods and presented a new method to combine these two different data in gas and oil exploration.Looked forward to find something new in the field of using remote sensing in oil and gas resources exploration.Firstly, systematically introduced the hydrocarbon microseepage phenomenon and the resulting surface alteration such as surface soil and rock geochemical anomaly, surface soil adsorption hydrocarbon anomaly, vegetation anomalies. Regarded these abnormalities as symbols to detect the hydrocarbon microseepage phenomenon.Distinguish the spectral characteristics of those alteration minerals which also will be discussed in this paper to probe these anomalies.Secendly, chose two scenes of multispectral ASTER images and one scene of hyperspectral SASI image to the research.Discussed every single step in detail which is important in the research such as data preprocessing, principal component analysis, extraction process, endmember spectra I identification, mineral mapping and so on.Then, analysed and compared the result of using these two different data in oil and gas exploration. Because these two data and the methods to extract the alteration anomalies by the data are different, mutual authentication between these two results will be very useful. On the other hand, combined these two kinds of results and proposed a new method to determine the threshold to divided the anomaly area in multispectral image and compared the effect with the traditional way which determined the threshold by gathering the anomalous principal component statistics. The result was the new method can match well with the traditional way and this result also proved the new method has a certain practicality.Lastly, summarized this paper and described the existing problems and gave a outlook to the technology of using remote sensing to explore the oil and gas resources.
