The thermal decomposition processe of NC was studied by TG-DTG and DSC experiments. It is shown that the thermal decomposition of NC proceeded in one step. There was only an exothermic peak in the DSC curve during thermal decomposition of NC. The peak temperature of DSC curve was about209℃and the releasing heat was approximately1913J·-g-1. According to the TG-MS analysis, the gaseous products evolved during the thermal decomposition of NC were H2O、HCN、N2、CO、NO、HCHO、CO2、NO2、HCOOH.The catalytic effects of Ni、NiO、Fe、Fe2O3、Fe3O4and ferrocene on thermal decomposition of NC were analyzed by DSC and TG-MS method. It was found that these catalysts depressed the decomposition reaction of NC and obviously decreased the decomposition heat. MS analysis shows that these catalysts resulted in the increase of NO2and HCOOH formation but decrease the production of CO、HCHO and NO during the thermal decomposition of NC, compared with CO2.The catalytic reaction of Ni、NiO、Fe、Fe2O3、Fe3O4and ferrocene on thermal decomposition of NC were respectively studied by XRD and SEM method. It was found that the crystalline structure of Ni and Fe was not altered; NiO was completely transformed into cubic crystal of Ni; Fe2O3and Fe3O4were completely transformed into cubic crystal of FeO; the reaction system of ferrocene contained the intermediate state which was similar with Fe2(CO)9; and the morphology of particles was obviously changed.
