Wet-cutting is one of the most mainly traditional machining, in order to reduce the cutting force and cutting temperature and ensure that cutting smoothly, lubricating materials (oil、water or other organic solutions) is added the cutting process. It has lower friction coefficient and to speed up the cooling speed. High speed steel and carbide are the mainly cutting tools materials. The cutting efficiency and cutting quality is low, the service life of tools is low also. So there is higher demand on cutting tool in manufacturing. The investment of Coated tools was a critical change for traditional machining technology, traditional wet machining technology were changed. It bring to dry machining technology. the cutting precision and cutting efficiency were improved at the same time. in order to guide the application in the field of machining tools, improve the use efficiency of cutting tools. research work as follows:(1)The coefficient of friction between304stainless steel ball and TiN、TiAIN coatings were measured, the wear morphology was observed.(2)Deposition of TiN and TiAIN coatings at YT15and YG6cemented carbide cutting tools By electric arc ion plating technology.(3)Using YT15/YT15-TiN/YT15-TiA1N tools for cutting tests to40Cr steel that have different hardness, measuring the cutting force and cutting temperature.(4) UsingYG6/YG6-TiN/YG6-TiA1N tools for cutting tests to304stainless steel, measuring the cutting force.(5) Analysis the wear patterns and condition of tools. Through the above study:(1) Under the condition of invariable in friction parameters, the coefficient of friction increases with the decrease of after first with the increase of distance.(2) Under the condition of invariable in friction parameters, the coefficient of friction rapidly increasing first, then increase slowly with load increase.(3) Types of friction and wear mainly contains:adhesion wear, abrasive wear and fatigue spalling wear.(4) The best cutting speed of YT15cemented carbide tools is96m/min, The best cutting speed of YT15-TiN coating tools is114m/min, so TiN coating tools improve the cutting speed and the service life.(5) Under tongh conditions, TiAIN coated cutting tools are more suitable for machining than YT15cemented carbide tools and TiN coated cutting tools. (6) TiAIN coated cutting tools were oxidated in cutting process, generated A12O3films can reduce the cutting force and protect the substrate was weared rapidly. so TiAIN coating improve the service life of the tool effectively.(7) TiN coating can improve the cutting speed and the machining efficiency of YG6cemented carbide tools(8) TiAIN coating is better than TiN coating can improve the cutting efficiency and the service life.
