In order to face to the changing material and challenging production requirement,machining tools are developing so fast.The traditional machining ways are more and more replaced by new modern machining technology.PCBN cutting tools is one of them,and we using this tools more and more in advanced machining applications.One advantage of using CBN tools replacing tranditional tools to machine hard material is that we can finish machine more compilicated component according to exisiting machine clamping.Besides,PCBN tools machining has more efficiency and less pollution comparing to grinding tools.The surface finish which it makes is much better than grinding.Therefore,at most cases,PCBN tools can replace grinding compeletly.But we need to idenfy the composition or grades of the PCBN tools,and cutting data as well,so that we can get the best machining result and best tool life.In this thesis,I introduced the features of CBN materials and the PCBN tools.And analyzing the composition of PCBN tools from constraction?production to CBN content?grain size?binder and sintering process.Then we can see the different features among different composition of PCBN tools clearly.I also did an experiment that we use different composition of PCBN tools machinging OD finish turning SKD11 hardened material.We anylaze the best option of cutting data of different composition of PCBN tools maching in order to get best surface finish.And anylaze different chips and cutting forces on different composition of PCBN tools when machining,and tools wear status as well after machining.In addition,we utilize a big commercial finite element analysis softwear,Deform,to build a 3D model of machining hardened steel by PCBN tools.So we should know more about the change regulation of stress on the cutting tools and temperature by different cutting data.In the end,I share different applications by these 5 PCBN cutting tools which indicated that different compositon of PCBN tools can machine case hardened steel by different working conditions.
