Polyoxometalates (POMs) are a subclass of metal oxides that represent a range of molecular clusters with unmatched properties and ability to form dynamic structures in nanometer scale. POMs were widely used as building blocks for the synthesis of hybrid materials with a range of potential applications in catalysis, photochemistry, electrochromism, sorption, biology and magnetism. Moreover, because the complexes based on POMs and rare earth metals possess unique molecular structures and functionalities, they have been applied as catalysts, medical and functional materials. In this thesis, we used the Weakly-type POMs as the building blocks to construct a series of compounds based on transitional metals, organic ligands and lanthanide cations, and were sufficiently characterizions.Thirteen solid state compounds were synthesized by using Dawson-derived sandwich-type POMs [M4(H2O)2(P2W15O68)2]n-as building blocks.(1) Five organic-inorganic hybrids with different structures were constructed by organic ligands and [M4(H2O)2(P2W15O68)2]n-linking up transitional cations. Another2D coordination polymer was constructed from transitional ions solely linked by [M4(H2O)2(P2W15O68)2]n-building blocks. These compounds were characterized by IR、TG、CV and PXRD.(2) Seven isostructural POM-lanthanide-based compounds were synthesized by traditional solution synthesis method, and were structural characterized. We also explored the catalytic properties of two known compounds in selective oxidation of styrene and acetylacetone, and photo-degradation of methylene blue.
