Centrifugal compressor is one of the most important equipments in petroleum and chemical industry. Especially in the course of natural gas transportation. centrifugal compressor plays an important role. The running state of the centrifugal compressor will have an influence on the normal working of the natural gas transportation systems. In this paper. the method of using similarity theory in centrifugal compressor is studied. Because the parameters of inlet flow are always different with the parameters designed. the performance curves are always not same with the designed curves. On the base of the study of performance parameters (pressure ratio, polytrophic head and efficiency) changes with the change of the inlet parameters, a series of new performance curves are got. The new curves are more accurate in showing the compressor condition. Advantages of designed curve are stated by A example. A new kind of evaluation method based on Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was proposed. With the dimension reduction effect of PCA. several principal components were extracted which can reflect the vibration characters of compressor. At last, a integrated value about vibration was calculated with a comprehensive evaluation function which contains Principal Components and their contribution rate. An example of a centrifugal compressor used in natural gas pipeline proved that the new evaluation method about centrifugal compressor vibration based on PCA is effective.
