Savonius rotor is a typical style of vertical-axis wind turbine. A new innovativedesign of two Savonius rotors coaxially in the opposite direction is presented in the paperwhich is different from the traditional design. The traditional generator has only a pair ofstator and rotor and matched with traditional Savonius rotor. Enlarging the relative speedbetween the magnetic pole and the coil pole by making the two pole rotate in the oppositedirection in the innovative Savonius wind turbine design. In this way, it can enhance thepower generation efficiency of the Savonius wind turbine. The fluid-solid couplinganalysis for the Savonius wind turbine is used to calculate the power characteristics andefficiency of the wind turbine. And the standard k ε turbulence model was used in thesimulation analysis of Savonius rotor.And then the relation between torque coefficient and blade angle was obtained by theanalysis results. According to analysis results, got the point and the range that generatingthe maximum torque and the negative torque. It can offer a useful reference for the furtherstudy on Savonius wind turbine in the future by the analysis of blade angle’s influence onthe turbine characters.Finally, by increasing the surface roughness of the inner surface of the twohalf-cylindrical blades of a Savonius wind turbine (SRSWT), the wind resistance on theinner surface of the wind turbine is increased. The utilization ratio of wind energy of theSavonius wind turbine is promoted. The power generating efficiency of the Savonius windturbine can be raised. Experimental results show that the method of increasing the SRSWTis applicable.
