The paper studies the status and progress of kinetic energy penetrating projectile penetrating into concrete at home and abroad. Found that there are some problems when the model of rigid projectiles which is widely used in this stage penetrating into concrete targets at high speed:The calculated penetration depth is larger than experimental value, and there will not appear limit penetration in increasing impact velocity. On this basis, the paper studies the theoretical model of the kinetic energy projectile which is considered the mass loss penetrating into concrete. The model divides the process of kinetic energy projectile penetrating into concrete into three phases, namely, open pit stage, invasion stage accompanied by the projectile’s mass loss and the remaining rigid projectile penetration stage. Compared with rigid projectile penetrating model, this model fits experimental results of the kinetic energy projectile penetrating into concrete at high speed better.In this paper, a finite element program AUTODYN2D simulates the process of kinetic energy penetrating projectile penetrating into concrete targets at high speed. Select four different projectile bodies head shapes, three different projectile bodies yield strength and three different target speeds for the simulation analysis. We build simulation models using JC model as projectile bodies, RHT model as concrete. At the same case of penetration speed and warhead shape, the depth of projectile penetrating into the concrete increases with the increasing warhead strength, warhead mass losses with the increasing warhead strength. Warhead shape has a great effect on the concrete, oval and conical warhead penetration depth is lager than the truncated conical and hemispherical penetration, and the effect is obvious. And in high-speed conditions, the warhead mass loss and deformation are relatively large. Finally compare the effect on the results of the shape of kinetic energy projectile penetrating into concrete with differentprojectile bodies head, projectile bodies yield strength and the target speed.These theoretical and simulation analysis can provide some reference for the structure design of high-speed kinetic energy penetrating projectile penetrating into concrete.
