Vibrating wire strain gauge is one kind of strain collection device, used in the object of large-scale structure. But at present, very long cable is commonly used in almost each strain gauge. In this design, a plurality of vibrating wire strain gauges has been connected with a single cable, which is utilized by RS-485bus in the transformation of serial communication. Economical use of the cables has been achieved, and it is conducive to the operation and detection because of centralization at one control system. This system allows32drivers and32receivers, a small network has been composed easily. It will be widely used in the measurement and control field, but also to meet the collection needs.Chapter Ⅰ:Introduction of the background, technical focus, technical features, development status and trends, the significance of the study, and main content. Chapter Ⅱ:Framework and principles of a single cable strain acquisition system has been proposed. Chapter Ⅲ:Detailed description of the design of the collector structure. Chapter Ⅳ:Detailed description of the design of the communication structure of a single cable. Chapter Ⅴ:Detailed description of the display control structure design. Chapter Ⅵ:Description of the design of power supply circuit. Chapter Ⅶ:Objective analysis of the system test results. Chapter Ⅷ:Summary and outlook.The paper has introduced the development process of a single cable strain collection device in detail. The system requires primarily multiple long-range single-chip communications. Therefore, RS485bus has been utilized in the communication system design. Display circuit shows the work status of main and vice computers, control circuit control the communication address, relay control the sensor and communication circuit is in charge of the communication between main and vice computers. The collection device collects data through sensors. The data collected to the PC via the data bus, saved by the PC. The control section and display section both in the main computer. This design is convenient for operation and failure detection. In addition, only one cable in the system, realized the conservation, convenience and design purpose.
