With the development of the modern automotive electronic control technology, electronic control units have been applied on many systems of vehicle. In the transmission system, electronic controlled automatic mechanical transmission quickly occupies a place in the automatic transmission market with its simple structure, low cost and high efficiency drive. In the key technologies of AMT, the research and design of the electronic control unit are related to the overall performance of AMT, they are the most important parts of the AMT technology. The development of the TCU consists of hardware design, software design and parameters calibration. There are a large number of control parameters inside the TCU, they play a key role in whether the AMT can represent advanced performance or not. The work of parameters calibration is through modifying these control parameters to improve control strategies of TCU and optimize the performance of AMT. By analyzing the structure and performance characteristics of AMT actuator, this article formulated a control strategy of shift process, including coordination control among the engine, clutch, transmission, and the PID control of select and shift motor in the process of shift gear, and the synchronous force control of the shift motor in the synchronization, etc. Then we establish control procedure models of shift process and change gear in MATLAB/Simulink. Finally, based on CANape calibration software, we design calibration system and calibration interface of the AMT TCU, and they are used in transmission test bench and vehicle to calibrate a series of moves of the AMT actuator shift process, including off gear, select gear and synchronization, etc. Ultimately the AMT actuator can complete the entire shift process on transmission quickly and smoothly.
