It was widely spread soft clay of deposition in Wenzhou coastal areas, this kind of soft claywas high water content, high permeability is low, high compressibility, low shear strength andbearing capacity was weak, and many areas buried deep and sedimentary deposit, low permeabilityled to drainage consolidation and settling time was very long, meet the engineering requirementsand be normally used, high compressibility led to foundation settlement difference greatly andbearing capacity was extremely low, low shear strength led the stability of the foundationinsufficiently. Based on this, this type of soft clay foundation was need of being treated properly, inorder to meet the growing demand of housing and being used.Electro-osmotic drainage consolidation was a new and promising foundation treatmentmethod, it had incomparable advantage that other foundation treatment method was none, such asdrainage consolidation time was short and having nothing to do with the size of the soil particle andwas not limited to soil hydraulic permeability coefficient. However, electro-osmosis reinforcementmechanism was unclear, electro-osmosis energy loss not economic and electro-osmosis designmethod was not clear and has been restricted the electro-osmosis method in wide engineeringapplication, so it was necessary to a series of research. The author read a large number of domesticand foreign literature, combined with the advanced test equipment, test specification andprofessional knowledge reserve, etc. which launched the study.One-dimensional theory on electro-osmotic consolidation of layered soft clay was studiedfirstly on electro-osmotic consolidation was seldom known. Using the hierarchical analyticalmethod combined with finite difference method calculating curve simulation equation set upelectro-osmotic consolidation theory and the pole pressure analytical value of layered soft clay, which was based on Esrig’s one-dimension consolidation theory. at the same time, compared thepole pressure value of double soft clay with single layer soil on the Esrig consolidation theory,Finally, contrasting the pore pressure under the hierarchical method and the average method anddrawing a conclusion that hierarchical method could be replaced by average method in engineeringpractice. Then on the self-made electro-osmosis consolidation model experimental apparatus, experiment was conducted on electro-osmotic consolidation of layered soft clay, by monitoringelectric current intensity, electric potential, drainage, shear strengths and moisture content weremonitored in the electro-osmotic process. After analyzing and comparing with single soft clay, conclusions can be obtained that the electro-osmotic relevant parameters of layered soft clay wasaffected by interfacial properties, so the electro-osmotic consolidation behavior of layered soft claywas explored. Then the electro-osmosis reinforcement mechanism was studied on linear heap load combined with electro-osmosis, one dimensional electro-osmotic consolidation equation underlinear load was established on the basis of consolidation process of the general equation areextended to electro-osmotic field, gained the pole pressure analytical value and average degree ofconsolidation on the two condition, which were cathode drained anode undrained and two poledrained, the effect of the maximum load, loading rate on the dissipation of the excess pore pressureand the effect of supply voltage on stress consolidation degree and strain consolidation degree isinvestigated by use of the method of parametric and test analysis, drawing the pore pressuredissipation curves of different maximum load and loading rate on single drainage and doubledrainage and stress consolidation degree and the strain consolidation degree curve of differentsupply voltage. The electro-osmosis consolidation condition was studied in the hybrid power output mode atlast.One-dimensional electro-osmotic laboratory test was conducted in saturated soft clay under onedimensional electro-osmosis consolidation test device, by monitoring current, voltage, potentials, drainage in the process of electro-osmosis and initial and final moisture content and shear strength, the use of electrical permeability coefficient, electric migration coefficient, energy consumptioncoefficient to study electro-osmotic drainage condition under the way of different power output.fanally, drawing the electro-osmosis condition in the mode of current and voltage is more economicand reasonable. The present work would hope to have certain guiding significance for engineering practice.
