With the rapid development of electronic information technology and theIT industry to the traditional building industry and people’s lives penetration,smart home realized the indoor and outdoor communication, remote devicecontrol, monitoring and other functions, to provide people with a comfortableand safe living environment for families and becoming the current hot spot.This paper analyzes the status quo and future development at home andabroad of smart home, designs a smart home network system using ARMprocessor and Linux operating system as the core. Network video monitoringsystem and home control are integrated in an ARM-Linux platform, the cabinetsystem can basically meet the requirements of home control.After analyzing and comparing several kinds of embedded system scheme,here we choose the S3C6410ARM11processor as the control core of smarthome control system, study the core circuit and expand the peripheral circuit;transplant Linux3.01as an operating system, and cut the kernel. Choose B/Smode as the development model of software system, build hardware andsoftware development environment. Then establish the basic framework ofsmart home remote control on the development platform. Use BOA as the WEBserver of the controller, make the WEB browser as the client, use transportprotocol based on the HTTP to make multi-intelligent terminal remote controlfunctions such as mobile phones, PC come true; expound Linux networktransmission process and the client’s WEB page design in detail. Finallycomplete tasks like the V4l2image acquisition, h.264codec, RTP transmission,SDL display, ActiveX plug-ins, fusing the function of home control and videomonitoring; Mainly introduced h.264coding technology based on hardwareMFC and Ffmpeg decoding, SDL broadcast technology of video streaming onthe client. The whole design has been basically achieved each function of smarthome network system, after testing, the system meet the design requirements, and has many characteristics such as high integration, low cost, high reliability,good stability, low power consumption and so on.
