| This experiment aimed to study the distribution and morphology of argentaffine cells in the Chinese Yellow Quail(Coturnix aponiea)and provide morphological basis for physiological and pathological study on digestive system. Segments of the digestive tract were submitted to immunohistochemistry analysis(AgNOR and5-HT specific antiserum)by Grimelius method in different ages of quails(1d,25d,40d,100d,200d,300d).The results showed that:the argentaffine cells could be found throughout most of the digestive tract but oral cavity, esophagus, ingluvies and colorectum potions. The distrionbution and amounts of argentaffine cells varied in1-40d quails,appearing a wave-like-curve in which it peaked in ileum, jejunum and ileocecal junction successively.Argentaffine cells were not found in cecum in1d samples,while the amount reduced in jejunum, ileum, cecum in turns of sexual maturity period. In adult quials,the argentaffine cells took a distribution as "W" especially at100d,peaked in glandular stomach and rectum,then ileum. The distribution curve changed to "U"as the age growed and could be observed obviously in200d male samples,meanwhile,it decreased in300d samples expecially in glandular stomach. The argentaffin cells varied in shapes,like cone, fusiform, round, oval and etc,having different functions including internal,external serection and paracrine action. The distribution features of argentaffine cells might be related to the food and environment.5-HT spreaded mostly in Acinus epithelial cells and its base in different parts of the intestine except oral cavity, esophagus, ingluvies,stomach and colorectum potions in1d smaples, could only be found in glandular stomach and rectum in25d,covered most parts except oral cavity, esophagus in40d.In the early age(1-40d),5-HT was only found in glandular stomach, duodenum, jejunum, Ileum, cecum and rectum with high amouts in glandular stomach and rectum in male samples than female.The shape of the5-HT appeared differently as cone, fusiform, round and so on.In conclusion,5-HT peaked in glandular stomach and rectum locating mainly in epithelial cell and acinus epithelial cells. Cone and fusiform5-HT functioned in internal secretion way for the internal environment change and gut content stimulaiton.However,some5-HT cells in rectum could function in external secretion way by the inner rough endoplasmic reticula.The experiment demonstrated that Chinese Yellow Quail endocrine cells had the functions of internal,external serection and paracrine action. |
