Natural forest resources continue to be human production activities to develop and use, leading to a series of ecological and social problems. For such a situation, countries in the world to accelerate the development of plantations. The plantation has a significant share in the national forest resources and plays an important role. In the process of development of plantations, the regeneration issues have generally received the attention of researchers. The regeneration of plantation is the main way of maintaining and expanding plantation resources, and the basis for sustainable development.Loess Plateau is unique to China’s special landscape areas, and there is serious soil erosion and the harsh environment in the area resulting in sparse vegetation. Since the development of plantation in the last century, the condition of the forest in the area has been improved to some extent. Pinus tabulaeformis, on behalf of one of the trees as a plantation in the Loess Plateau, belongings to pine trees and has intolerant tree species, developed root system, better adaptability and leanness-resistant ability. The regeneration of Pinus tabulaeformis has been subject to the attention of the relevant researchers. Whether the Pinus tabulaeformis regeneration survives, it not only depends on its own biological factors, but also on environmental factors. The life cycle of the plant, seedling stage is the most vulnerable, the most sensitive stage to the environment, the stage of growth and survival situation of the seedling are critical to the development of the population. The research object of this paper is artificial regeneration of Pinus tabulaeformis seedlings in Malan Forest. The paper analyses the survival and growth conditions of updated Pinus tabulaeformis seedlings by field surveying. The study includes survival conditions of regeneration seedlings, comparison of the characteristics of seedling survival in different environments, analysis of tending measures on P. tabulaeformis seedlings in the region and growth of the situation in different environments, high growth and growth of base diameter correlation analysis in seedlings, and analysis of environmental factors on seedling growth. The main results are as follows:1. There are different levels of mortality on P. tabulaeformis seedlings which regenerated in different environments in Malan Forest. P. tabulaeformis seedling mortality is highest in the studied four types of growth environment, followed in weed trees and bushes, and the lowest mortality in the grassland environment. Combined with the characteristics of the environment, show that seedling mortality difference relations in seedlings biological characteristics.2. The artificial regeneration in Pinus tabulaeformis seedlings in the period of three years after planting, seedling number of deaths in the uneven distribution in each year. The highest number of deaths in the period are the initial planting period in a variety of living environment, therefore, after the initial planting period is the period of P. tabulaeformis seedling survival bottleneck in the region.3. In order to improve the survival rate of Pinus tabulaeformis seedlings regenerated, protect the seedlings spend the bottleneck period safely, scientific tending measures should be taken. We should avoid harming the seedling roots in the seedling planting, create the light is not too strong and the soil moist environment for seedlings, arrangements reasonably tending plans and specific measures for each period.4. Analysis of growth indicators of Pinus tabulaeformis seedlings, that significant differences in seedling height in different environments. The height of the seedlings in a grass environment highest, followed by bush environment and weed trees environment, the lowest in the birch forest environment. Basal diameter values of seedings are also significant differences in the different growing environments, performance as basal diameter of seedlings growing in the grassland environment is greater than in the bush environment, greater than the weed trees environment, greater than birch forest environment.5. Heights and basal diameters of seedings regression equations obtained by regression analysis. Show that the growth of seedling height and basal diameter growth is a positive correlation in the region.6. To growth height of seedings as a proxy indicator combined with environmental indicator analyzed by stepwise regression analysis, the results show that the major environmental factors limiting Pinus tabulaeformis seedlings growth are soil pH, weed cover, planting density, and the slope of the habitat and the light intensity. Plant growth is affected not only by the impact of a single environmental factors, is also the result of the combined effects of various environmental factors.7. Pinus tabulaeformis seedlings planted in the Loess Plateau, should be based on selecting good seedlings, while paying attention to choice and create an environment conducive to the survival and growth of seedling. The results show that to effectively promote the survival and growth of Pinus tabulaeformis seedlings, recommended to choose the environment that pH value of the soil environment equal to7or close to7. Meanwhile, in order to ensure adequate light resources to seedings, planting should not be too close, the density which8/10m2-10/10m2can be chosen. Artificial tending timely removal of weeds and shrubs which compete for nutrients. In addition, slope of planting ground should not be too large, should select slope areas less than20degrees planted otherwise it will lead to a greater adverse impact on seedling growth.
