Gouty nephropathy also called chronic kidney disease of uric acid, is a clinical syndrome characterized by hyperuricemia caused by metabolic abnormality of purin and generation increase or reduce discharge of uric acid, renaldamage caused by uric acid salt deposit on kidney tissues.The main clinical manifestations have proteinuria, hematuria, edema, uric acid calculi withwaist ache,more frequent micturition at night,even nausea and vomiting, mouth urine smelly, and hypochondria.According to the different clinical manifestations of gouty nephropathy in the traditional Chinese medicine,it canbe categorized as “lumbago”,“hematuria”,“urolithiasis”,“edema”,“consumptive disease”,“anuria and vomiting”.For the gouty nephropathy,separate western medicine treatment has a lot of limitations,western medicine treatment,poor curative effect,big side effects, traditional Chinese medicine treatment has obvious advantages compared with western medicine treatment.Professor Ma thinks the etiology of gouty nephropathy including inside and outside causes,the internal causes are lack of natural endowment and deficiency of liver, spleen, kidney,the external causes are invasions of exogenouswind,cold,dampness,eating and drinking without temperance,imbalance of emotion.The main pathogenesis is deficiency of liver,spleen,and kidney, damp obstructing,blood stasis,belonging to the syndrome of asthenia in origin andasthenia in superficiality,deficiency syndrome mingling with excess syndrome.Turbid damp and blood stasis are both pathological products and pathogenic factor that throughout the disease and become the key factors of the disease.The key link of pathogenesis is the interaction, mutual transformationof turbid damp,blood stasis,and deficiency.Professor Ma considers that thetreatment of gouty nephropathy should have tonification and purgation in combination,strengthening healthy qi to eliminate pathogens,using respectively elimination of dampness and heat,removing blood stasis to regulate the meridians,removing blood stasis,removing dampness to regulate the meridians, supplementing qi and nourishing yin,clearing damp to regulate the meridians,purgation fu-organs to eliminate the turbid,and tonifying spleen and kidney,and stops bleeding without blood stasis,removing dampness without hurting positive,strengthening body resistance without remaining pathogen.
