Objective:Research on personality in patients with insomnia, negative life events, the basic characteristics of insomnia syndrome and syndrome of TCM, as well as the relationship with the Hamilton Anxiety Scale. From the etiology, we explored the factors that had caused and aggravated insomnia and also discussed related syndrome of TCM in patients with insomnia to guide the clinical status for patients with insomnia job and insomnia screening high-risk groups and prevention.Methods:The Investigation method was cross-section survey. Used direct the questionnaire survey form,111outpatient who came to the insomnia department of Dongzhimen Hospital of TCM from May2013to January2014filled in "general information questionnaire"," Chinese medical clinic information questionnaire",with Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI), Hamilton anxiety scale (HAMA) scale of sleep quality patients respectively and emotional assessment."Chinese medical clinic information questionnaire "based on instructor’s experience and information questionnaire references previous literature to develop.Results:1. The impact of insomnia on the gender, age, educational level and job occupation for comparison found that the female patients accounted for67.6%, young and Middle-aged people at aged20-59years accounted for82.8%, the people who have higher education and engage in mental work accounted for81.1%. So we can believe that the people who is female, youth or mental work in higher intellectual more likely to suffer from insomnia.2. Study of negative life events found that there were89insomniacs who did not excises regularly with long time,80.2%of the all,55insomniacs who was long video operator, nearly half of the total number of cases. It showed that compare work pressure insomniacs with no such pressure ones, insomnia patients’ HAMA score was statistically significant (P<0.05). The results described that insomniacs who had negative life events would show more anxiety symptoms.3. Study of personality found there were89insomnia patients that showed a quick temper and of ten worry,80.2%of the total cases. Over half of insomniacs showed often angry, the pursuit of perfection and taking excessive working life. Compare Insomniacs who often angry, be introverted, take excessive working life with who have no such personality characteristics, insomnia patients’HAMA and PSQI score were statistically significant (P<0.05). The results described that insomniacs who had negative personality would show more anxiety symptoms and insomnia worse. 4.Study of the accompanying symptoms found the top five of the common symptoms of insomniacs were acute irritability (73.8%), dry eyes (71.1%), upset (62.1%), dizziness (61.2%), red tongue (55.8%). It can be seen that there were more insomniacs who showed fire derived from stagnation liver in the clinical investigation. HAMA total score of insomniacs with acute irritability was higher than who had no acute irritability. PSQI total score of insomniacs with bad memory and baldness was higher than who had good memory and black hair. The result indicated that sleep quality of insomniacs with symptoms of forgetfulness or alopecia hair was worse.5. Study of the typical syndromes of TCM found insomniacs with liver-fire were most (27.9%), the second was phlegm-fire (22.5%). The syndrome of liver-fire, phlegm interference and hyperactivity of Pathogenic fire due to deficiency of yin as heat syndrome, accounted for70.2%. Heart and spleen qi deficiency, deficiency of both the heart-qi and gallbladder-qi, as qi deficiency accounted for29.8%. HAMA score of different syndromes of TCM were statistically significant (P<0.05). HAMA score of liver-fire, phlegm interference and hyperactivity of Pathogenic fire due to deficiency of yin were higher than Heart and spleen qi deficiency, deficiency of both the heart-qi and gallbladder-qi, the result indicated that insomniacs with liver-fire, phlegm interference showed more anxiety symptoms, and anxiety symptoms decreased sleep efficiency to make into a vicious cycle.6. PSQI score of different syndromes of TCM were no significant difference.7.Correlation Analysis of personality in patients with insomnia, negative life events and the basic characteristics of insomnia syndrome, we found that there was no statistically significant correlation. But we could still see something from the descriptive statistics, the insomnia patients with a quick temper and acute irritability accounted for61.2%, the insomnia patients with a quick temper and upset accounted for52.2%, the insomnia patients with often angry and acute irritability accounted for55.8%, the insomnia patients with of ten angry and dry eyes accounted for52.2%. It was indicated that the insomniacs whose personality characteristics were quick temper and often angry often associated with symptoms of acute irritability, upset and dry eyes. Traditional Chinese Medicine considered that the disease location was in the liver, it’ s easy to be turn into liver-fire to damage to Yin.Conclusion:This study suggested that gender, age, occupation, education level may be associated with the onset of insomnia. The person who was female, young and have mental work in higher intellectual would be more likely to suffer from insomnia. Insomniacs who had negative life events and bad personality would show more anxiety symptoms and insomnia worse, sleep disorders would exist with long time. With increasing work pressure, the insomniacs whose personality characteristics were quick temper and often angry often associated with symptoms of acute irritability, upset and dry eyes. The sleep quality of insomniacs with symptoms of forgetfulness or alopecia hair was worse. Insomniacs with liver-fire, phlegm interference showed more anxiety symptoms, and anxiety symptoms decreased sleep efficiency to make into a vicious cycle.
