Poetic Translatability

The translation of poetry is a subject perm for scholars and poets also. To properly analyze this issue, we still need to reflect on its essence:the problem of translation. Translation is an activity or an art? Does the task of translation is to convey the meaning of the original receivers? What is the nature of translation? If this memory can successfully answer the questions, the problem of the translatability of poetry may be resolved.The translation of poetry follows also the principles of translation theories. But it has still its particularity. Which obstacles will be caused by this particularity? Can these obstacles be solved? The paper will answer these questions.The vitality of a discipline lies in its awareness of the problem. On the problem of poetry translation, we have previous research. For example:the problem of translation of poetic images, the translation of foreign or domestic rhythm of the poem, and the problem if the translator of the poem should be a poet, etc.This paper tries to explain the nature and mission of translation based on the modern hermeneutic theory and point out that the fundamental properties of the translation lies in the interpretation and its fundamental task is to extent possibilities within the re-creation; and then takes the exemple of the different translations of the poem of Baudelaire "carrion" to analyze the basic features of the translation of Poetry and the main obstacles facing, and on this basis, analyze the problem about the space of re-creation and retranslation of poetry translation. In conclusion, the paper points out that the difficulties of language in the translation of poetry should not lead to the thesis that poetry can not be translated, howerver, the translation of poetry, whether in theory or practice is possible; at the same time, the paper also particularly concerns about the poetry the translator’s identity in order to emphasize the fundamental characteristics of the re-creation of poetry translation.When the paper is determined on the theoretical point, it must trace the source and find the nature of the problem by linking "poetry" and "translation". Ⅱwill start from the nature of translation and the general problem of translation-translation and interpretation of the relationship-to come into the subject of the paper: the poetry translation to discuss the re-creative translation of poetry; the particularities of the poetry translation at the level of langage and translation, as well as those barriers caused by the specificity of translators; the paper will finally explore the translatability and the space of poetry translation based by the subjectivity theory of poetry translation.The example used in the thesis is three different versions translated by Xu Zhimo, QIAN Chunqi and GUO Hongan to support the points related in the paper.
