On The Democratic Leadership Of Virtue Ethics

Democratic ethics are based on the comprehensive understanding of democracy. Democracy is closely related to all aspects of human life. The pursuit of democratic life should not only pay attention to the democratic system and democratic political system, we should pay more attention to democracy from the perspective of virtue ethics. On the subject of democracy in virtue ethics, leadership as a kind of special subject, their moral level impact on the democratic ethics is very important. Why the democratic ethics are inseparable from the virtue of leadership? What types of virtue of leadership do the democratic ethics need? What is the role of leadership virtue for the democratic ethics? It is a series of problems that need long-term and in-depth study of the subject.This paper is divided into four parts:The first part is the summary of the democratic ethics and the virtue of leadership. The problems that should be clarified in this part are:Why the leadership is necessary and inevitable in the organization? How important the virtue of leadership is in the qualities of leadership? If it is important, why is it easily to be neglected? And what are the basic requirements of the ideal democracy ethical order in the democratic ethics.The second part is the key part of this paper, clarifying that the democratic ethics depends on the virtue of leadership. First, analyze reasons from the angle of the shortcomings of the democratic ethics itself. Point out the relativity of democracy in the democratic ethics. And in indirect democracy, whether the democratic representatives can put aside their self-interest or not. And indicate that the congenital defects of majority rule in democratic ethics system. The above aspects all need the power of virtue to help. Second, analyze the conditions of the dependent. Sum up the basic requirements which are different from the past and made by the democratic ethics. Finally, analyze the promotion of virtue of leadership to democratic ethics.The third part discusses problems in cultivating leadership virtue in the democratic ethics. Following the thinking that moral character of the leadership to moral conduct of the leadership. Mainly involves three aspects, first is the essence and connotation of the moral character of leadership, second is pointing out the inconsistency between moral character of the leadership and moral conduct of the leadership. Efforts should be made to encourage and foster leader virtue. Third is expounding two levels of moral conduct of the leadership, one is apparent moral conduct and the other one is substantial moral conduct. Based on the analysis of the pros and cons of the apparent moral conduct, stress that the pursuit of substantial moral conduct should be valued and allocating more effort to do.
