Ever since the establishment of the studies on the oracle-bone divinatory materials exploiting the most updated linguistic theories to descript the divinatory texts has been one of the most focused issues among the linguistic experts specialized in the oracle-bones. In four chapters this article will try to systematically analyze and delineate the semantic patterns of the sentence with a single verb nucleus in the Huayuanzhuangdongdi Oracle-Bone Inscriptions using pertinent semantic theories including verb semantic categorization, verb valancing and sentence semantic pattern as the analytic tools. In the Forewords, discussions primarily concentrate on the origination, methodology and research content of this project. The first chapter on the one hand reflects the framework of the semantic theories of Fan Xiao and Zhang Yufeng and has done major modifications to make it adaptive to the description of divinatory texts, and on the other classifies the verbs in Huadong inscription according to their semantic traits. The second chapter discusses the major problems in the valencing practice and means to settle them, and give every verb a definite valence. The third chapter lists the semantic patterns of the experience verbs and status verbs while the forth concentrates on that of the movement verbs.
