The research subject of this paper is NeCHung Oracle, which is the incarnation of God Pa-her Guardian Deity, and the one of the major Guardian Deitys of Drepung monastery, The Dalai lamas and dGav-Idan-pho-brang regime. The oracles of the guardian deity participate in the administrative affairs through declaring the oracle in the dGav-Idan-pho-brang regime, which exert great influences upon the Tibetan politics and religions. In this paper, the author tries to conduct a tentative research on sorcerers by studying NeCHung Oracle.This paper consists of introduction, the main body and conclusion. The introduction introduces the meaning of NeCHung Oracle research, the research dynamics and the main research methods.The first chapter tries to illustrate the relationship between NeCHung Oracle and Tibetan religious belief, history and culture by means of describing the related issues about Guardian Deitys and their sorcerers. Additionally this chapter also tries to conclude and elaborate the complex and various NeCHung Oracle believes and the related history of dGe-lugs-pa Sect in its early stage.The second chapter explains how NeCHung Oracle functions in dGav-Idan-pho-brang regime. The first quarter of this chapter discusses the special relation between the fifth dalai lama and NeCHung Oracle through three aspects, namely, the family of fifth dalai lama, Drepung monastery, and the identity of dalai lama. In addition, this quarter analyzes and concludes the roles of sorcerers in dGav-Idan-pho-brang regime, the position of NeCHung Oracle, and dalai lama’s personal opinion about Guardian Deitys and their predictions. In quarter two, the author analyzes the relation between the seventh and eighth dalai lama and NeCHung Oracle, with the purpose of explaining the role and influence of the four Guardian Deitys represented by NeCHung Oracle at that time. In quarter three, the relation between NeCHung Oracle and the thirteenth dalai lama and Drepung monastery is analyzed, which explains the fact that NeCHung Oracle takes a leading position in dGav-Idan-pho-brang regime, and why NeCHung Oracle could participate in the administrative affairs. This chapter also explains the reasons for changes of the position of the major four Guardian Deitys. In chapter four, the author verifies the assignment of NeCHung Oracle’s sorcerers, and then studies and analyzes its relation between other sorcerers in rgyal bo sku Inga.In chapter three, the author concludes and summarizes the historical function and influence of NeCHung Oracle.The conclusion part illustrates the changes of the four major sorcerers and their functions in different periods of time. This change mainly depends on the changes of Guardian Deity’s belief. The NeCHung Oracle plays a vital role in the administrative affairs and daily religious activities in dGav-Idan-pho-brang regime, which is represented by the changes of its relation with Drepung monastery, dalai lama and dGav-Idan-pho-brang regime.
