Beijing teahouse is the representative of Chinese teahouse culture.It highly developed from Qing Dynasty,teahouse was the public consumption space as well as an important carrier of whole city culture.As a symbol of Beijing culture,teahouse had a profound meaning and close connection with Beijing banners society.It will be helpful to understand and track down the changing history of Beijing culture by researching the Beijing banners society and teahouse.Therefore, this paper select Beijing banners society as a starting point,using theories and methods of history,folklore,sociology and cultural anthropology to mainly study the situation of Beijing teahouse in the background of Beijing banners society in late Qing Dynasty.Then reviewing teahouse’s prosperity background,location and classification,management etc.And from the perspective of Beijing banners,researching the characteristics of these consumers and their consumption activities.Exploring the traditional culture and folklore meaning of teahouse,interactions between teahouse and banners,the changing course of Beijing banners society and Beijing culture.The whole paper is divided into three parts.The first part give a arrangment on the Beijing teahouse from the beginning of Qing Dynasty which including its development and prosperity background.This part also focus on the classifications and brief analysis of Beijing teahouse.The second part takes teahouse as the main.It analyzes the characteristics of location and classification.The special pattern of inner and outside cities from Qing Dynasty is the reason of differences in regional distribution which is large distributions,small gathers.Besides,there are other forientations such as natural environment.In the long term development of teahouse,tea and food services was getting plentiful,the function as public space also expanded and combined with other businesses.These characteristics shows that teahouse’s functions tended to diversify and its serviced Beijing banners’life.The third part takes Beijing banner consumers as the main, analyzing their group features and consumption activities. There are two group features:broad participation in Classes,transcending the gender boundary.These features,on the one hand,reflect the banners’cultural values and their social status, prove the universality of consumptions in Beijing teahouse on the other hand.In addition to basic diet Activities,there are many types of consumptions:entertainment and leisure activities,folk arts,social communicationsetc.Beijing Banners completed the consumption of teahouse public space by these activities,which promotes cultural connections and reflects the teahouse’s social functions.It shows the relations between teahouse with Beijing banners society by analysis above, specifically in three aspects:formation and development of Beijing banners society on the impact of the teahouse;Beijing banners society on the impact of location and classification of teahoues;teahouse on the impact of Beijing banners’social life. And the combination of Beijing banners society with teahouse promoted relations between banners and normal citizens,developed the Beijing city culture.
