This paper intends to survey the local citizens'distinctive cultural psychology and folk customs in Laoshe's literature works with Beijing-style from the viewpoint of city culture, and further explore the relationship between city and people. Within Laoshe's works this paper tries to figure out the reasons of the evolvement of the cultures of construction, official standard, commerce, aristocrat and customs from the layers of history and society. Eight hundred years'history of being a capital enables Old Beijing citizens to have a thinking of official standard and culture center, thus great importance attached to the ostentations and manners becoming a special feature of Beijing citizens. Favorable policies towards the Eight Banners (Manchu families) provided them good economic conditions and leisure time to enjoy themselves and then a trend of extravagance, ostentation and lavishness came into being. Edified and immersed by capital political and cultural surroundings over a long period of time, people living beside the imperial palace naturally have relatively higher cultural attainment comparing to people of other areas. Even vendors and underlings in the capital had their own bearings and styles and became famous for their graceful commercial culture. After the establishment of Qing Dynasty, the Manchu families lived in a mixed way with the Han people, and produced particular folk-customs and festivals. With the changes of political, economic and cultural environment, Beijing-style city culture also proceeded through evolvement of development, changing and fading.
