For overseas students who learn Chinese, vocabulary always throughout their whole acquisition process and vocabulary is a very important part of language learning. The measure of the learners’vocabulary level should be done in many ways. The learner’s vocabulary level is not only embodies in vocabulary width-vocabulary size, but also from other different sides, such as processing level of the vocabulary.Laufer and Nation in1995put forward that lexical frequency profile is the reliable and effective tool in measuring free productive vocabulary. This paper investigated the productive vocabulary size on each vocabulary grade of the beginning, middle and senior level students by experiment. Use the Content words and function words’correct rate in the chapter to measure vocabulary depth. Statistics productive strategies of different learners. Trying to find out the different strategies used by learners of different levelsOn the basis of the definition of L2productive vocabulary, this paper discuss three indices of oral productive vocabulary:vocabulary width, vocabulary depth and productive strategies. Proving is there exist "Fossilization" phenomenon of productive vocabularies.based on the experimental data give some suggestions for curriculum,teaching materials and teaching arrangements.
