Speak of the "quality", is undoubtedly the connotation ofmaterial, material, carving people "quality", Art Deco similarly so, is between thematerial and the decorative art is "be closely related and mutually dependent"relationship, as the materials scientist Maurice Cohen said:"art design and creation ofhuman activities are started and utilization material from the choice of materials."Therefore, the study of the relationship between material and decorative art, explorethe specific application of materials in decorative art, will undoubtedly become theimportant meaning of materials development and continue to move forward in the artdeco. What is more, put forward the "new concept of beautiful China" in the party’seighteen big central, highlight to materials in the Art Deco in the diversification offunction, to explore the intrinsic relationship between the two and apply to practice artdeco, bound for the "beautiful Chinese dream" add a brick to add tile realization.This article is based on this, to explore the use of materials in decorative art. Thisstudy is divided into five parts, the first part is the concept of materials and decorativeart, mainly introduces what material? What is art? The inner and the correlationbetween them; the second part is the classification and characteristics of materials,mainly introduces the material as a specific classification of an art decorationmaterials, including natural materials, synthetic materials and material, in addition,cultural, aesthetic, social, natural features of the material are also presented; the thirdpart as the material in the decorative arts of the function, including semantic, emotion,beauty, texture etc; the fourth part is the concrete application of materials indecorative art development, including the traditional materials in decorative art, theuse of composite materials in the Art Deco in the fusion and development of newtechnology, new material in the creation of Art--from the "Lotus" in my works as anexample. The fifth part is the conclusion part, mainly summarizes the research, inorder to improve.
