The first chapter provides the previous studies of Japanese,Chinese, and Sino-Japanese subject omit. The second chapter concerns the division of talking andnarrating. Then, it makes the comprehensive statistics of the cases of subject omit in originalJapanese edition and translation edition of Chinese of Snow Country. The third chapter focuses onthe discussion of the similarities and differences of Sino-Chinese subject omit in the view ofgrammar. The fourth chapter tends to find the similarities and differences that exist in Sino-Chinesesubject omit from the perspective of cultural background. The fifth chapter refers to the cognitiveanalysis of differences which is based on the Sino-Chinese subject omit of Snow Country. The lastchapter goes to the study of improper translation of Snow Country which is resulted from subjectomit in the frame of co-relation theory. The following is the conclusion of major findings of thepresent study based on the research.1. Not only the difference of grammar but also culture differences and cognitive model causes thedifferent application of subject omit between Japanese and Chinese edition.2. It is true that some inappropriate Chinese translation cases of Snow Country are resulted fromover-devoted to the subject omit in original edition. Thus, it is necessary to take the language habitof local readers, cultural background and cognitive model into consideration when it comes toSino-Chinese translation. In order to achieve the best co-relation between original and translatededition, it is necessary to fill in appropriate subjects in translating.
