In recent years, second language acquisition researchers both in China and abroad have discussed negotiated interactions from different aspects. These studyies show that negotiated interactions between non-native speakers, non-native speakers and native speakers, non-native speakers and teahcers can promote leaners pay negotiated interactions attention to the target language forms, can increase comprehensible inputs and comprehensible outputs. However, these studies are mostly limited to the acquisition of English as a second language, few studies touches the surface of Chinese as a second language. This paper therefore studies negotiation of meaning in Chinese as a second language in the following aspects:It explores the types of negotiation of meaning and their distribution in different tasks. It analyzes the effects of negotiation of meaning. Finally, it discusses how to combine semantic negotiation and oral Chinese teaching as a foreign language.The objects of this research were selected from Minzu university of China, according to their proficiency all of these sixteen objects were categorized as non-native Chinese learners in this test. Content of this Task including three parts: a. Answering questions. B. looking for differences of two giving pictures. C. graph description. All the dialogues were saved as records, and translated into Chinese texts. the transcriptions were coded and measured for the amount and type of negotiation of meaning.The data were submitted to a series of one-way Checking or responding of proficiency difference on the amount and type of meaning negotiation. At the last part of this thesis, the author also analyzed the semantic validity of negotiation.The current study revealed that the primary learners negotiation of meaning types are:a. Clarification Requests b. Confirmation Checks, c. Comprehension Checks. Further more,negotiation of meaning also produced three different kinds of utility:a. comprehensible input; B. Notice formation; C. comprehensible output. Finally, the author is aimed at how to combine negotiation of meaning with teaching Chinese as a second language, and give teacher some suggestions in Teaching Chinese class.
