The ultimate goal of language teaching is to enable students to communicate with others freely. But the result of the traditional teaching approach (Presentation, Practice, Production ) is not satisfactory. The phenomenon "dumb English" is very common, especially among vocational college students, who are to be technical workers. So the teacher should focus on the practice of English skills, paying attention to students' ability of practical communication in English. So it is necessary to employ an effective means to improve students' oral ability. The Task-based language teaching serves the above purpose, by emphasizing "learning by doing" and offering students' opportunities to use the language. The negotiation of meaning plays an important role in this relatively new methodology. This study attempts to focus on the effect of task type, task organization and participants on the negotiation of meaning when employing Task-based language teaching. This paper consists of six chapters. The first chapter states the purpose and significance of this study. In the second chapter, the various views concerning TBLT and negotiation meaning are demonstrated. The third chapter comes to the role of TBLT and negotiation of meaning in the second language acquisition. The key parts of this paper are Chapters 4and 5. A detailed introduction is given to the subjects, instruments, procedure in this study in Chapter 4.The scientific results and data analysis are stated in the fifth chapter. The last chapter discusses the findings, implication and limitations of the study.
