Jiangsu Cultural Industry Competitiveness Evaluation

As a sunrise industry, culture industry is becoming particularly important in stimulating ecnomic and social development, promoting the transformation and upgrading of industrial structure. Cultural industry competitiveness is increasingly becoming the standard measure of a country and region "cultural soft power". Decision of the CPC Central Committee on deepening reform of cultural system to promote development and prosperity of socialist culture, passed by the Party’s seventh session of the Sixth Plenary Session clearly defined how important role and urgence cultural reform plays in enhancing China’s international competitiveness and international influence. As a Cultural Province, the added value of cultural industry is growing year by year. Culture industry also effectively alleviates the employment pressure. But Jiangsu Province is not a strong cultural province. There exists many problems in Industrial structure, Industrial demand, construction of industrial clusters, etc. In views of these, Jiangsu Province should respond positively to the call of the central in the new era to develop culture industry vigorously. We expect to drive the enhancement of competitiveness in Jiangsu by the enhancement of cultural competitiveness. So how to measure and enhance the competitiveness of culture industry accurately also becomes considerable.This paper first departure from the concepts and basic characteristics of cultural industries. Combined with different professional theories such as theory of comparative advantage, theory of competitive advantage, Industrial cluster theory, theory of Institutional Change. These theories provide a theoretical basis for the analysis of influencing factors constraining the competitiveness of Cultural Industry in Jiangsu Province. Then this paper next highlights the status of the development of the cultural industry in Jiangsu Province. Through SWOT analysis to identify advantages, weaknesses and the opportunities and challenges in the development of cultural industries in Jiangsu Province. This paper build the competitiveness index system and evaluation criteria of Jiangsu Culture Industry and use BP artificial neural network algorithm to do vertical and horizontal comparison of Jiangsu Culture Industry competitiveness. Finally, I expect policy recommendations made in this paper could be useful for the development of the cultural industry in Jiangsu Province.
