Bouyei Octave Singing Sit Study

The BaYin Singing is also called "the Bouyei BaYin Singing", it is a folk musicstyle popular in the region of the Southwest Guizhou. It had been approved as anational intangible cultural heritage in May2006. In the process of our musicdevelopment, folk music presented the trend of integration, but the music of minoritynationality has never been given the deserved attention of the outside world. Currently,the survival and development of the BaYin Singing face serious difficulties, it isurgent for protection and support. Therefore, we hope to promote the protection,inheritance and development of this national intangible cultural heritage throughresearch on the BaYin Singing of the Southwest Guizhou.Based on a series of fieldworks, a variety of literature, the combination ofpractice and theory, with the theory and methods of artistic anthropology, culturalanthropology, ethnology, musicology, this paper analyzes and discusses the BaYinSinging from various factors, and describes its emergence, development, content,artistic forms, artistic features, facing problems.In the introduction part, this paper introduces current research status of BaYinSinging, and elaborates the purpose and significance of this research, and explains theselected research methods.The first chapter detailedly describes the origin and geographical distribution andsocial functions of the BaYin Singing. It spreads in the distinctive region of theSouthwest Guizhou with its own music style.The second chapter explains the artistic forms of the BaYin Singing by theinstruments, singing structure, repertoire of its music forms, the performingconstitutes, content expressions, performing dimensions of its performing forms.The third chapter describes the artistic features and causes of the BaYin Singingfrom its singing features and performing features. From the natural factor and thehuman factor, this paper analyzes its formation of ecological environment.The fourth chapter describes BaYin Singing’s current status, the facingdifficulties and problems with its transformation and cultural evolution, analyzes thecauses of the problems, presents the proposals and measures for solving the problems,and looks into the prospects of its protection, inheritance and development.Finally, this epilogue part summarizes the key points of this paper.
