The BaYin of Zhuang people in Longlin County is the representative musical category of "BaYin of north" of Zhuang people. The local BaYin in Longlin has characterized with ample traditional tunes, unique styles of music, the genealogy of apprenticeship which can be verified over five generations and a solid mass base. It is still one of the most popular musical form in local wedding ceremony and other ceremonies and thus worthy of research.The author has chosen five teams of BaYin as the object of observation, conducts an analysis in perspectives of modal characteristics and music noumenon in order to summarize the musical characteristics, characteristics of tunes, musical functions of BaYin. The author also try to discuss the influence of the cultural evolution on the BaYin.The thesis is composed of four chapters. In the first chapter, the author glances at the "BaYin" of zhuang people, makes a specific definition of BaYin. We also partition the music of BaYin into three categories according to the musical instruments:blowing and percussion music of Zhuang people; string and bamboo flute music of Zhuang people; form of coexistence. In the second chapter, the author makes a description of the local cultural environment, traditions, the tales involved BaYin, the distributions and characteristics of music teams. The author also takes a close look at the present situation of the object of observation, records the scene of the ceremony in which the BaYin teams have participated and discuss the symbolic significance bear by BaYin. The third chapter is an morphological analysis of BaYin music. The author divides the musical tunes in two classes:The main tune and the subordinate tunes. The author analyzes the composition, the form of performance, musical characteristics of both main tune and subordinate tune and deduces the features of tune of BaYin in Longlin County. The last chapter is an analysis of musical evolution. The author pays close attention to the evolution of musical noumenon, social function and both internal external perspectives. The internal motivations include the social and economical development, the historical context, the change of social demand; the external motivations include the fusion of outside culture as Han culture and BouYei culture, the influence of national policy. The author hopes to combine different elements for discussing the cultural evolution of BaYin in Longlin county driven by the different needs of people in different times.
