As one of the oldest artistic forms, Chinese painting is always trying to change andmake its own way in the basic of the heritage of tradition. And the development ofmateiral is really important for its change. In the context that paintings are gettingdiversification and complex, a question was raised that how can we deirve different kindsof art material into Chinese art and keep its independence. I tired different material inorder to keep both “water” and "ink" to fit the conception of contemporary art and inject arfesh strength in my three year graduate development. The usage of ceramic mateiral andprint material not only conform to the intention, but also help to create a new artistic sensethat different rfom traditional Chinese art.Duirng the research development, how to deal "with blank" is my main point offocus. Blank in tradition can both represent a relationship of black and white and the”ancient philosophy of Chinese masters. Nevertheless,‘‘blank was given otherconnotation by the change of era and thinking in the contemporary art. That’s why I wantto ifgure out the letfover of tradition "blank" and its inner conception. I want to combinethe things I discovered with my own thinking and spirit condition. The paper starts withmy experiences; I will try to analyze the relationship of tradition and creation, includingmy thinking about new material in contemporary Chinese art.
