This thesis intends to discuss the relation between digital media and visual identitydesign for galleries. Based on a profound understanding to their substantive features, thisthesis will also probe into possibility and necessity that digital media could be applied forvisual identity design of galleries. Through case studies and practical experiences, a newconcept,“Dynamic Visual Identity System”, will be presented. As the historical background of visual identity design of galleries, digital media hasa huge influence on how people receive information, their expectation to appreciation ofbeauty, as well as human living habit. Meanwhile, it also broadens more space for visualidentity design of galleries with various ways. While there are still big room forimprovements and progress when put into practice, I hold an opinion that we should usenew ways without ignoring ideas and essence. After used maturely and systematically, itshould be used simply and partly at the beginning. Typical cases and my own designs areanalyzed in this thesis to verify my opinion.
