Yu tai xin yong is the oldest poetical collection after Poetry and Poetry of the South. It has more than600poems, which preserves important language material from Han, Wei Dynasty to Qi, Liang Dynasty. This paper attempts to study the reduplicated words in Yu tai xin yong from the point of lexicology view for the first time, to fill the gaps in this research field.This paper mainly uses the exhaustive statistics and analysis method to study the reduplicated words in Yu tai xin yong. We discuss the concept, structure type and classification of parts of speech, and conduct a comprehensive study of the reduplicated words in Yu tai xin yong. According to the vocabulary meaning and additional emotional of the reduplicated words, this paper would classify the reduplicated words into five semantic types:onomatopoeia, figures depicting, backdrop of the examination, reduplicated indicates the degree and name. Finally, according to the actual situation of Yu tai xin yong, this paper would explore the relationship between form and meaning of reduplicated words.After argument, we found that:(1) The reduplicated words in Yu tai xin yong have more rich parts of speech.In addition to the adjective, adverb,verb, onomatopoeia numerals, nouns, category words, interjection, pronoun are also included, which significantly expand the use scope of reduplicated words.(2) In Yu tai xin yong,the main form of structure type of reduplicated words is AA type.(3) In Yu tai xin yong, the reduplicated words already have richful expressive power and covered a large number of synonyms and polysemy, which witnessed the width and breadth of the Han and Wei period vocabulary development.
