Cooperation is a social principle, and anyone can not live alone in the world. Studying without friends makes you ignorant and ill-informed. In modern society, cooperation has been emphasized to promote the further development of the society and individuals. Cooperative Learning which was named as "the most important and successful teaching reform in recent dozens of years", is a popular theoretical system and strategy in many countries. College English teaching is confronted with a challenge recently, and activating students in college is more crucial than before. CL is a new opportunity for English teaching. At the same time, college students have the sense of independent, innovative thinking which can provide a good condition for CL. As a language, English always improve by communication. CL in college English teaching adapt to the educational trend meets the need of society.With the development of technology, network has quietly penetrated the field of education, the new characteristics of network calls for the new concept of education. The interactivity and openness of the network provides a convenient condition for the development of cooperative learning. As a kind of new teaching theory and concept cooperative learning also accords with the requirement of the network times. The effective combination of both network and cooperative learning can promote the college English cooperative learning a continuous improvement. But in real class, most of the scholars seldom combine the network with CL. The development of ear requires more and more scholars come to participate in this study.First, this research summarizes the trend of the CL’s development, discusses the theoretical background, major approaches and basic elements of CL. On the basis of these theories, the author makes experiment about the present situation to get the result. And the development of cooperative learning can be divided into five dimensions: attitude and interest, preparation before class, class discussion, evaluation mechanism and the communication after class. Second, this research take internet into consideration, the investigation contains student questionnaire and teacher interview. Conclusion shows that:the lack of understanding of cooperative learning and low utilization of network, each dimension has certain problems. Finally, according the basic theory and knowledge of CL, put forward the strategies to solve the problems in reality. The strategies are based in the framework of the dimensions, through the way of improving the utilization rate of the network to improve the efficiency of students’CL.This research has four parts:1). Analysis the reason and background of this research. Then, discussing the development of CL and making a summary of the trend.2). Explanation of the theory. Illustrate the core concepts of this paper contains the CL of college English and the basic theory of CL.3). Present investigation and problem-finding. This research aims to find the problems by the way of students’ questionnaire and teacher interview.4). Strategy. According to the basic theories and characteristics of internet, this paper discusses the problems for CL, and presents countermeasures and suggestions for CL of collage English.
