Constructions Negative Evaluation Analysis Of Discourse Markers

With the development of Functional Linguistics, more and more people pay attention to Discourse Markers, which play an important role in the construction of discourse. It is the focus of many experts and we can see a lot of articals from all kinds of magazines. Among these, the experts tend to explain the form characteristics or meaning characteristics by just a singal Discourse Marker. Many experts observe them through diachronic study. They give us a helpful mirror, on the basis of predecessors, we observe and study Discourse Markers from many aspects.We try to explain the formation and form characteristics with the theroy of Construction Grammar, which is different from predecessors. Our inspiration came from Juanman Zheng(2009)’s doctoral dissertation, in her paper,she refered that some constructions have the characteristics of Discourse Markers, so we considered that maybe all Discourse Markers can be considered as a construction. We confirmed this idea by reading up a lot of literature. Now we can see the structer of the whole article specificlly:Overview. Combing the discourse markers in history,we recount the development and the main contents in brief of Discourse Markers both domestic and overseas. And we make a brief introduction of Negative Discourse Markers which are related to our paper as well.Chapter1. we give our defifition of Discourse Markers on the basis of predecessors, and we consider that Negative Discourse Markers should have five characteristics:"using in Spoken dialogue","grammaticalization of the concept","independence","negativity" and "meta-pragmatic functions". Based on this, we classify the Discourse Markers from form and function. We analysis the meaning characteristics and put forward that there are differences in negative level among the discourse markers. Finally, we analysis the charcteristics of context distribution.Chapter2. we confirmed that Discourse Marker is also a construction and we analysis Discourse Marker with Construction Grammar. In period1,we confirmed the characteristics of Discourse Markers from the following aspects:markedness, meaningfulness, part productivity, and we try to prove that the meaning of Discourse Marker comes from construction, its composition and the context. In period2, we discuss the formation of Discourse Markers from the following aspects:concept stack and conceptual integration, chunking psychological, exposition need, frequency of use, speech act theory. Finally, we analysis the interactions of constructions with their compositions.Chapter3. we analysis the cognitive pragmatic functions of Discourse Markers, and we considered that textual function and interpersonal function are their main functions. Textual function reflected in discourse coherence while interpersonal function reflected in bringing listeners’psychological mindedness and the acception of information into the speaker’s consideration when he sharing information. Finally, we analysis the functions from cognition, and considered that Discourse Markers embody amount iconicity, order iconicity.
