This paper studies the on-line used buzzwords and expressions originated fromEnglish. The study conducted a survey of young people living in Shanghai on the useof English originated buzzwords in their daily lives. A list of buzzwords andexpressions with three levels is built, and a thorough investigation into Hold zhuand ke is carried out. With the research and analysis of some outstanding cases, wesummarize the features, causes and trends. The essay consists of six parts.Chapter one presents the background of the topic. With the rapid development ofnetwork technology, and social diversity of approaches, a large number of popularwords and phrases from English into people’s lives in the past, this change oflanguage reflects a close relationship in culture. According to the status and problemsof both domestic buzzwords and also english originated buzzwords, we proposed thetheatrical and applied value of this research, on which we analyzed the objects andtarget.In chapter two, we produced and distributed a questionnaire to survey results,based on the social networking site English originated buzzwords usage overalldescription and general analysis. According to the functions and ways of theirChinesilation, we divided all the English originated buzzwords into groups, tocompare and find out characteristics in each group.In the third chapter, we conducted the study on a high degree of Englishoriginated buzzwords "hold zhu" in semantic, syntactic view, from novelty divergent,economic principles we discussed in terms of dialect "hold zhu" s rapid popularityreasons, and to explore the possibilities of Chinese-English code mixing wordseventually entering Modern Chinese.In the fourth chapter, we researched English originated buzzwords "X ke as aspecial case in a detailed description. First, we counted the usage of "ke" amoungyoung people, through the analysis of semantic functional changes of "ke", we discovered a semantically turn from solid to empty, and also the function from a freemorpheme affix into class affixes; then, we have "ke before ingredient "X" wereclassified investigated to study the "X " grammatical function, and in the end, wediscuss the reason why "X ke" is massively copied.The fifth chapter combined second, third and fourth chapters of the contents andprevious studies. Social factors and linguistic factors are concerned into the chapter.The analysis of the English originated buzzwords popular reasons reflected its culturalpsychology. Meanwhile, the prospect of English originated buzzwords has beenpredicted.The sixth chapter is the conclusion. It summarized the work and innovation thispaper has done, as well as pointing out the inadequacies of this paper and futuredirections the author is working for.
