Painting’s true reappearance cannot exist without many modeling elements, which constitute the modeling system of western painting. An enduringly popularwork of painting is necessarily the product of subjectivity and conforms to aestheticrules which consist of perspective, dissection, proportion, optics, chromatics and soon. All these elements hide behind and dominate the phenomenon, while they arecontent of relative rest in the diversified painting styles. The language of oil paintinghas its own glamour in the aspect of material. It develops, following the laws ofmodeling and meeting the needs of times. In some masterpieces, there is no doubt thatthe abstract beauty of their unique languages add brilliance to their paintings. Onlywhen we see through these phenomena according to the laws, can we have a cleargrasp of the nature of modeling elements underlying the realistic painting. Thedevelopment of contemporary Chinese art does not synchronize with the international(mainly western)trend. The political structure and main ideological of Chinadetermine that realism and revolutionary realism remain the main forms of Chinesepainting, especially oil painting, for a long time to come. Therefore, it is of realisticsignificance to study the modeling system of western painting which is mainlycharacterized by its realism.
