| Wang Zhixin is an influential composer in modern music field of China. Since1980s, hehas created a series of vocal music works with intense national touch, including Orchid Flowers,Lady Meng Jiang, Mulan Enlist; all of those not only reflect a profound meaning of ancient folklife and vivid local features, but also combine something with modern factors. Therefore, he hasbeen renowned for his rich and varied music works, and won a high reputation in the circle ofmusic. Moreover, due to the fact that Wang was originally trained with the background of vocalmusic, he is more likely to take singers’performance into account during his composing work,which technically satisfies the play of folk vocal music and promote the development of Chinesevocal music substantially. He is good at taking reference from melody of folk songs, traditionalfolk arts and opera singing in musical text. At the same time,he doesn’t reject creation factors ofwestern music art. In addition, he boldly applies modern composing techniques so as to entailnationality, time and diversity to his works. This is the unique artistic style of Wang Zhixin’snational vocal music works. By taking”nationality,times and diversity”as the mainlinethroughout, this essay carries out comprehensive and detailed analysis.This paper can be divided into five chapters. The first is an introduction. Researchpurpose,significance,current status and methods are involved. It is the fundamental analysis,mainly covering Wang’s experience about music creation and accomplishment. His art works arediverse and varied, which can be divided into four categories in general, that is, historical stories,themes of folklores, themes of realism, and themes of ancient poetry or expressing feelingsthrough certain things.The second starts from the features and styles of Wang’s folk vocal music,the characters of associating with time-based creating work, of embracing folk elements, ofshowing varieties, will be summarized through his musical forms (language, pitch and tone,rhythm, etc.), music text material and creative methods.The third taps into Wang’s singingperformance, and does a detailed research about his representative music works with the abovethree characters by analyzing the creation background, the connotation of the lyrics and thesinging skills. The forth summarizes his achievement to the Chinese vocal folk music. Thesecond and third chapters discuss its stylistic characteristics from the perspective of theories andthe study of singing, so as to make people understand and use it more intuitively. The fourthchapter summarizes Wang Zhixin’s contributions to the Chinese national vocal music from two aspects. The first is to analyze the merits of his works for the inheritance and development ofChinese national vocal music. The second is to discuss the implications of his artistic charmproduced on singers.Through summarizing his artistic achievements and the implications he conveyed to us, wecan find that they are of great significance to the vocal music. As they can not only enrich thestudies of Wang Zhixin as well as the studies of national vocal music, but more importantly, theycan guide the future practices of the national vocal music better. This chapter has made a highlycondensation and distillation of this paper. The conclusion part is a summary for the whole paper,and the future plan of the paper is available. Among most national vocal music works, the worksof Wang Zhixin have been constantly sung by other singers and become more and more popular.As one of the most outstanding representatives of the contemporary composers, his worksenriched the treasure of national vocal arts and exerted a great impact on the Chinese nationalvocal music circle. It is of great significance for the innovation and development of the nationalvocal music to study the styles, singing and contributions of the national vocal music works byWang Zhixin. This paper is expected to shed some useful enlightenment for the study of thissubject. |
